I'm looking at a 1998 DX crank window Accord that drives like a dream and has very little rust, top or bottom. One family owned but someone in the family smoked so there are a few burn marks on the pass side door card/panel by the window, It's silver with a medium grey cloth interior. What are my chances of find a decent replacement?

I usually drive VW's so I;m used to power windows falling down in doors so I like crank windows. However, I like to clean up anything I drive cosmetically so i would replace the door panel if I can. It's not a deal breaker, I just wondered how many DX crank window cars are out there. Google hasn't revealed this to me yet.

I will need a decent hood so at least it's silver, those seem to be plentiful, haha.

All DX Accords of that generation came with crank windows. Unfortunately they didn't seem to sell very many DX's in comparison to the higher trim packages. I'm sure you can find one if you look hard enough. Best of luck in your search!

 

Thanks, I thought some of the DX models were power locks and windows so it's good to know I have some range to choose from. I'll also look into whether the fabric section on a DX door panel is the same as an LX, maybe I can just swap the fabric. As you say, there should be a lot more LX's out there. I suspect the LX had nicer/different fabric based on my son's 2000 LX but a trip to the pick and pull should tell me a lot. They have a lot of Accords in there.

 

I was shopping for a car for my daughter years ago and looked at a clean DX. The salesman pointed out that it had roll-up windows and said he didn't think I would like it. Now when a salesman says that, you have to wonder. That the only one I have seen.

 

That salesman obviously has never taken a door apart to work on power window problems.
