Default Iab circuit in ecu keeps burning up.

Hello all.. i've searched and searched but can't find any information on this issue. A friend of mine has a 92 prelude with h23a1 she recently replaced the trans and a couple days after her ecu burnt up. Originally I figgured she shorted something out hooking things up with battery in but after replacing the dead ecu she was getting code 0 (bad ecu) and come to find that one burnt up the iab solenoid circuit (both ecu's burnt up the same) i've suggested testing the wiring for shorts with multimeter but my question I need answered is.. how do you test the iab solenoid itself in order to see if it's the cause of the burnt ecu's?

Easiest way, unplug it and see if it happens again, as the solenoid is out of the equation.

But, seeing as there was just work done on the car, I would lay money that a wire got pinched or nicked, and is grounding out causing it to blow. I would start by visually checking all of the wiring in the engine bay, specifically the harness going over the trans and under the intake manifold. If nothing is obvious, start testing wires for continuity, and jiggling them around while testing if not getting anything odd right away.

I'm guessing you got the connector accidentally swapped with another sensor, perhaps the IAT sensor, which is common.

That's another possibility... I wasn't sure if the two could be swapped I will let her know

sent this info... solenoids/sensor in that area weren't unplugged during trans swap..

When you apply power to the iab solenoid it should click.
