Got a shake that starts at 20mph and goes away around 40 in the front of the vehicle. Gets worse the harder the vehicle accelerates or on hills. Doesn't matter what gear selected. If car is mid shake say 30mph and immediately let off the throttle the shake stops.
I changed a bunch of parts all at once fortunately.
I swapped in a high comp B20b
New clutch pressure plate and flywheel
Old Man Emu lift springs and new struts
Lower ball joints
Upper control arms with ball joint
New outer tie rods
Poly filled all but drivers side engine mount
New CV axles
Ive been trying to figure it out for a little while now. Triple checked everything, alignment, tires checked and rotated.
I warrantied both my CV Axles and replaced the halfshaft carrier bearing with one from Honda because mine seemed sloppy and the shake is still there....
I'm pretty frustrated, the only thing I can think to do now is put the stock springs back in. I really don't want to do that....
I had similar issues with my lifted crv. I had aftermarket axles in mine. I rebuilt my oem axles and put them back in and the shake was gone completely. My shake was at the exact same speed and intervals that you posted. I am not sure what axles you are using but that was my issue and going back to oem axles fixed it.
I mean it had a b20z with 204K. This engine is a
little quieter and smoother but I don't think it's really much of a performance upgrade. I usually take it pretty easy in the CRV, rarely past 4K rpms and I've been babying it with the axle shake so I dont know.
Aftermarket cheap made in China axles are notorious for shaking on lowered or raised vehicles. This is because the inner CV joint on these axles is out of tolerance from the nice and tight Japanese ones that came with your vehicle. Finding some used Honda axles from another CRV will fix your problem.
I had this issue on my Civic and Integra. Replacing the axles with Honda ones fixed the issue in both cars.
If your ride height is altered from stock stay away from cheap China axles
Yes, sourced an OEM axle from a salvage yard. All 4 are OEM now. It feels like there is still a very tiny bit of vibration around 30-45 at WOT for me but I rarely go there and it’s good enough for me.
