Default How to tell which Transmission control solenoid needs to be replaced?

After talking to quite a few people over the last few days the universal answer seems to be the control solenoid needs replacing. I called up the Advanced Auto yesterday and they asked which one I need to replace as there is apparently 3 different ones? I was under the impression there was only 1 but he was pretty content with there being 3. He priced them out at 2 of them being $70 while the 3rd being almost $800. So this morning I went to Auto Zones website to see if its cheaper and to compare and this is the results. I see a Solenoid A, Solenoid B, and a lock up Solenoid. Is there anyway to test which one is bad?

Also whats the difference between these 2 lock up Solenoids as there is a $400 difference. Is there a reason why 1 has 3 connectors and the other only has 3 connectors

On the 2.3;

Sideways 'H' solenoids are the CPC or Linear solenoids.
To the right will be a pair of smaller solenoids they are for the TCC lockup, known as the 'A' solenoids.
Below 'A' is 'B' a single solenoid.
Below 'B' is 'C' another single solenoid.

To the far left and on top are the NM and NC shaft speed sensors.
Screwed in horizontally will be the 2nd and 3rd gear pressure switches
