Default 1998 Odyssey downshift trouble

It's a 1998 odyssey with the 2.3 l vtec sohc with an automatic transmission. Recently when it downshifts its smooth all the way up until its time to shift back up, then it gets real jerky before shifting back up. Checked transmission fluid at the beginning of the trip and it was fine. If I let off the gas while it's jerking it'll shift back up and be smooth again. Any idea what's going on?

Sounds like it could be one of two things:
1. a sensor of some kind has gone bad, or
2. internal transmission failure

Either way, I would have it inspected by a qualified technician.

possible dual linear solenoid failure, pull the solenoid out and check the screens for debris, if the screens are getting clogged then I'm afraid its time for another unit.
