Default 2003 rear seat question

Recently got a 2nd gen after having my lifted 1st gen stolen () Having difficult time getting rear seats pushed up against front seats as it says I can do in the manual. There is a strap behind both back seats and it appears you pull that strap and the whole lower part of the seat releases but mine don't release. Any insights greatly appreciated.....

My wife's 02 (also gen 2) was doing the same on the right rear seat when we bought it. I managed to work a long flat screw driver down to the latch release while she pulled the strap. Once it released and folded forward I unbolted and removed the seat found the cable was binding due to a sticky grime on the cable and latch. After cleaning and lubricating everything it was good as new. Fair warning if you do fully remove the seat, the springs are pretty strong and can fight you when you go to reinstall.

thanks for responding. I got the double seat to release but the single still won't budge. Wasn't sure I understood how it worked but from your description it sounds like I just have to strong arm the thing.
