Icon5 98 Accord radio fuse keeps blowing

So my 98 accord's battery went dead after leaving the lights on, and while attempting to jump it off I smelled some melty burning stuff and saw some fumes escaping through the a/c vents from behind the dash. After replacing the battery fuse and eventually getting a brand new battery, my radio/cd player and my cigarette charger no longer work. I checked the radio fuse and it was blown also. Attempted to replace it but the new fuse blew immediately after putting it in. I removed the head unit to look around behind the dash and I didn't see any melted wires. Is there anything I else I can do before biting the bullet and paying someone to fix this? Is there a way I can track down a short that may be present somewhere? The wires appear to be fine behind the dash.

make sure nothing is blocking the connections or touching bare metal, also check the cigarette lighter, I had a penny in there that I didn't notice and kept blowing my fuses lol

Did you connect the jumper/charger cables up backwards at first? 94

Well at first I tried jumping it off and I wasn't aware the battery fuse was blown. I was confused as to why it wouldn't jump, and second guessing myself I switched the cables thinking I initially had them backwards (they were on correct at first)- that's when the fumes began to leak through.
