Hello everyone, i was wondering if someone can assist me with an issue. Recently when im driving and i come to a stop, there is hear a whining sound coming from the front of car but once i start accelerating, the noise goes away. Idk if im correct but would that be from the alternator?

 

Use a long handle, broom or long ratchet extension and place it against the alternator housing while the engine is running, place the other end against your ear and listen for the whine. Check other areas of the engine and transmission to see if the noise becomes louder.
Could also see if the whine becomes louder when added electrical loads are added, headlights, fans, radio, etc.
