98 Accord with 108k Engine and tranny questions
Hi All,
I just got a 98 accord thinking it had a minor tranny issue where it just needed a sensor. Turns out after some troubleshooting I may have a polished turd. I almost always get the p0715/D4 DTC even after fixing multiple issues with wiring to the output shaft sensor. I now see the 400 Ohms on the d11 and d12 pins of the ecu. I have found on days when it is very hot outside or after I make 3 stops where I turn off the engine the D4 light doesn't flash. Unfortunately as expected down shifting can be erratic and or engine bogs down. So I am wondering if possibly the new ATF that is in the tranny is possibly too thick or or the ECU is sensitive to heat and works better when it's warm. I have read about someone who changed the ATF to Honda recommended and it resolved a P0715 code issue. Any tips on more troubleshooting steps? When the d4 light flashes the transmission works fine other than not shifting to 4th or locking the torque converter.
With regards to the engine it has a ton of blow by and uses about a quart of oil every 200 miles or so. How easy is it to re-ring and reseal?
