problem shifting from park to reverse 95 accord
Having a problem shifting from park to reverse. Its a 95 accord automatic....Sometime it shifts easy, then other times i almost have to shove it into reverse from park with my foot. All fuses are good, brake lights work...any ideas? Would it be the cable getting bad? It goes back into park hard also..All other gears shifts smooth
Check for any stored codes via the two wire blue connector under the glovebox door. Jumper it with a wire and turn the car to II(ON), watch for any codes from the CEL/D4 lamps.
Verify the interlock is properly working, do not force it. Use a spare key to unlock the shifter via the slot on the bezel. If it is still hard to shift then there may be a mechanical issue with the interlock and it will need to be inspected. With the key turned to II(ON) depress the brake pedal, you should hear a clicking from the shifter, that is the shifter interlock. Verify the shifter cable is properly adjusted and the shift switch is working correctly, when in Park the P should light up and so on. How to replace the ignition switch or troubleshoot (Honda, Acura)
