Default Replacing sending unit, should I also replace fuel pump?

I have an 89 civic SI. Looks like I have to drop the tank to replace the fuel sending unit according to the FSM. My fuel guage keeps pointing to full tank reqardless of fuel amount, especially when it is hot and I have been driving around for awhile.

So should I replace the fuel pump since I have the tank removed? The pump still works, it is the original. Just my luck it goes out after I replace the sending unit. I noticed the price of fuel pumps for this car range from around $30 to $120. Any recommendations?

Thanks

With the amount of work involved in removing the tank and the cost of a fuel pump, I would go ahead and replace the fuel pump at the same time.

If it is the original pump it is over a 1/4 century old. 94

I agree, if the tank is dropped, spend the extra time changing out the pump also.
