Bergenholtz with Mazda now..
Sap lives....
It seemed like he had better success when he was running in the Quick Class/Hotrod CRX. It was rare to see his Modified/Pro CRX make clean runs
I wish him best of luck with the Mazda Camp
Honda needs to start sponsering some of this drivers in the way that Mopar,GM,Mazda are currently doing.

Its the new Mazda6
They need to retire that CRX or sell it to someone else. Its day is over. They talked all that **** about how they were gonna blind side everyone with the new chassis setup for the CRX and that car was a frikin joke. And now they are saying 7.50s @ 200+ for the FWD Mazda. I think that is not too far out of reach but they need to learn to keep their words to themselves...let the car and the track numbers do all the talking.
Car looks good though. I'm glad Mazda is getting into it.

its too bad to see the import scene sellout. the big american companies jumpin on the "import" bandwagon. god i ****** hate that ****.
The only thing I do not like is all this switching to RWD. What was always cool for me was how the cars were kinda close to production cars, then along came tube chassis, then custom trannies, now RWD, its too far from the factory now.
If Honda would actually support their racers, with the exception of 1-2, they wouldn`t "jump ship". It`s not just drag racing either, look at Roger Foo..

the import/sport compact scene can't stay the way it was forever. What it will turn out will be like how the NHRA has the PRO races as well as the regional and local NHRA races. Pretty soon we'll just have an all HONDA racing series such as the NMRA series for Mustangs as well as the PRO EDELBROCK racing series. Those sanctioning bodies are still catering to the weekenders who have minimal sponsorship or even on their own budgets. They still have the Street Production classes as well as the modified PRO STREET classes, etc.
So where John Force, Tony P., etc are at, some of our IMPORT guys will be at those ranks too in our scene. but most of us, will end up competing in local/regional races. Thats all good so all of us can shine within our own local peers and be able to compete within cars of our own caliber. Right now the big races such as IDRC, NHRA, etc are gearing towards the national PRO level. someday, there will be organized regional races that will cater to us hobbyists.

Without the efforts by Ford and GM this sport would be years behind what it is now. I kinda like all the other companies getting involved. Gives Honda a little competition and that is always fun.
All the competition will mean more factory Honda sponsored cars.

These guys as well as us enthusiasts are what fueled the growth of this industry. GM and FORD, MOPAR, etc just built their own cars that were never even being used within the growth of the industry. I never saw a Cavalier all raced out at the street races? same goes with the FOCUS and the NEONS.. these cars are MANUFACTURERS cars and they needed to join in to make those cars look like they have potential for the young consumer.
Being in the scene for more than 10 yrs.. these are the companies that truly saw a potential in what the industry is today. The following local companies were there from the beginning to provide us the parts that we were looking for and were willing to do the R&D, and trial and errors for us to have the best parts.
DC SPORTS formerly DC FAbrications
JG Engine Dynamics
Jackson Racing
AEM
and many other smaller companies as well as the Japanese tuners.

i'm not saying they shouldnt join, but FORD and GM didnt do **** to the industry. The players in the industry are the actual racers, the import performance industry manufacturers, the magazines that covered the events, IDRC, BAttle of the IMPORTS and somewhat the old NIRA.

i think that Ford and GM stepping up has been good because it has caused honda to take racing more seriously, i was very impressed with the new cars at sema this year by all of the manufacturers.... but i do not like rear wheel drive in a front wheel drive car, it confuses me why they would do it, it doesnt help market the car at all, it just points out its weakness
You forgot REVHARD/ManAutoworks..... This whole import industry growth started because of Southern California's street racers from back in the 80's. My older brother and cousins used to street race in there RX-7's and Celica's. They used to hang out at Toysport and AEM back then. Thanks to Mr. Choi he started the first Battle of the Imports at LACR in Palmdale. Because of him all of this import drag racing started. Turbo and Sport Compact Car started covering Battle of the Imports after a few years. This sport is getting bigger and better but it is going thru some growing pains. Some of this pro class racers do this as a living. They can not afford to build there own cars there way. We still have the quick class and all motor class and that seems more attainable for the everyday working class men that we are.
