91 CRX Si Build- CoCo
What’s up everybody. I’ve been a member on here since 2013 but never posted anything till today. I have a build thread that I started on CRX Community like a week after I got the car. I will summarize it all on here for you guys and try to clean it up a bit from my 17-year-old self (now almost 21). Here is a link to the thread on CRX Community if you would like to take a look. I purchased the car with the help of my dad in June of 2013. I couldn’t think him enough for helping me get one of my dream cars. A CRX a dream car? I know it’s crazy. Here it is the day we purchased it,

First thing that needed to be done was change out the badly dented fenders for almost perfect fenders. This made the front end look way better, since the lights were all out of whack.

Next was to fix the play in the shifter, you could move the shifter a few inches while in gear. I went with the Wicked Innovations zero play mod which made the world of a difference. They just weld in a new U-joint.

Bought a K&N intake to get the car on the road because it was missing when I bought it. Had to modify it with a straight piece from Advance to get it to fit right.

After that the CAI (more of a ram intake) interfered with the battery tray so that gave me a reason to relocate the battery, I used the PW: JDM relocation kit. With the current stage of the build I will be relocating to the boot.

Then I needed even better shifter feel and went with a Skunk 2 weighted shift ****. Also an extender to get it closer to me. This changed the feel more than I would have thought, makes banging gears in the baby Z6 even better.

Decided I should get some before pictures done for the start of the build. Found a guy in Parkersburg to do them for me, Glad I used him because he has grown into a very good friend that also has an EF. We’ve been giving each other motivation to pick it up on our build ever since.

Fast forward probably 2 years and I’ve finally got my butt in gear on the build. Was at college but dropped out for a job opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I am now a NDT Technician, and it has given me the resources and the money coming in to build not just the CRX but also my B5 Avant. Will be purchasing another project car here soon for a drift build. I did own a 240sx as well as the CRX in high school but chose to sell the 240 for college money.
SO! It all started at just changing the wheel bearing but thought to myself it’s now or I’ll just keep throwing it off. That’s when this happened
First I completely tore the front end apart for FULL suspension upgrade and overhaul. Then I thought how bad the engine/ bay was gonna look after all the new suspension was thrown on. So that came out also.

All the stock stuff was powder coated. Everything is either OEM or upgraded. Here is a list of suspension mods and stock replacement. Steering rack was also refurbished by me.
· Skunk 2 UCA
· OEM Hubs, Wheel bearing, and tie rods
· ARP Extended Studs
· Progress Coilovers 350/350
· Downstar Bolts all the way around
· Hardrace Bushings

Then it was time to get the engine bay painted. It came out pretty good.

While it is all out I decided to build a High Comp Z6. Close to 12:1 Compression. Heres a list of all engine upgrades and OEM replacement. Painted the Transmission and Block as well.
· PG6 Pistons
· ARP Rod bolts on stock rods
· All OEM gaskets
· OEM Bearings
· ARP Head Studs
· Oil Strainer
· Water Pump
· Timing Belt and everything needed to replace

I think that is everything in a summary. Now you are all up to date. It’s nothing crazy yet, but I hope to have it looking pretty good in the next year or so. It needs paint more than anything and that would really set it off.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Still waiting on my stuff to come in from AFH to finally put my engine back together. I'm currently working 6 12's so I'll be able to throw some more money at the car soon!
Finally an update! I'm pretty excited to get her back on the ground in the next week or two. Well then it's time for the rear to be put up and everything rebuilt back there. Anyways here's some pictures,
First I installed my innovative traction bar

Then rebuilt my calipers and was able to throw my rotors and pads on

I am running Hawk HPS pads and Brake performance rotors. They come with a coating to protect the non contact parts from rusting. I've been running them on my Audi for over a year and not one spot of rust has showed up on them, they sell every type of rotor (slotted, dimpled, drilled) so go check them out!
Engine will hopefully be put back together in Feb. and thrown back into the car when I order my engine mounts. Other than that it's just little stuff I need to tidy up in the front. Also have to tuck wiring and order a CJ's harness.

Never really update you guys anymore. So here is what has been going on lol.
Well first things first. Picked up a Cressida for a drift build which I'll be starting when my Audi sells.

And I got a new Daily. 2011 GTI, Stage 1 and a CAI

Back to the CRX. Got the engine together and back into the car! Finally!!
Getting it out together.

All finished up.

Went with CC lightened flywheel and Exedy stage 1 clutch.

Finally back into the car after months and months!!

How it's sitting as of the other week. Currently have the radiator and a few other things installed

I was gonna run the chase bays fuel line kit. But decided I didn't want a clamp at my fuel feed. So I went with the Radium fitting that bolts straight to your existing nut.

Oh and here ya go

Rear suspension will be started on in the next few months and won't take near as long as the front end has. So expect an update around then lol.

Lot of talent and patience here. Great build!! I do see one problem, and it isn't so much a 'problem' really... I deal with it too. The car 'attention deficit disorder'. I say this from experience, having been a dozen cars deep in my ownership at any given time. It started off innocently enough like you, but unnoticed it gets out of hand. I've had cars untouched for years because I bought another, and another and another... I've just sold off 4 of the higher end cars and I still have 8 left, with barely enough time to work on one or two. That said, I do like your choices.
