91 CRX Si Build
Hello everybody, I am copying my build thread from CRX Community in to here. It's been pretty dead on that forum, Idk if this one is or not lol. This thread started in 2013
Hey everybody! My name is Chase. I'm from West Virginia. I recently bought my first CRX about 2 weeks ago. I found on CL about 3 hours away and I've dreamed of having a CRX for awhile now. So me and my dad went and made a deal with the guy. I fell in LOVE once i seen it. My ideas for the car is to get it in great running condition then start buying parts to make her quick and prettier than she already is. She will have USDM and JDM inspiration. I will make a nice build thread when she starts coming together.

My first thread so I hope i did the images right. Tell me what you guys think :D
The interior is in pretty good condition.

Got the fender changed! Some pictures

It was a little dirty under there

So I cleaned it up a bit

BEFORE AND AFTER

Yesterday after school I began to work on the car. I put my new fender on, my zero mod shift linkage installed, and my speedometer cable installed. I couldn't test the speedometer cable because I don't have a CAI and a bad battery.
Heres the new fender it used to be red so some of that sticks out

Shift Rod

The bolt and clip I needed for the speedo cable and sensor

Then my cat wanted to help

Fender BEFORE and AFTER

Got my intake in today and installed it. Next I'll be working on relocating my battery, no its not going in the back. I dont want all the battery gases in my car even with the battery box. I think I will order the PW: JDM relocator. Yeah its a lot of money but I like it.

I got and installed the PW:JDM battery relocator yesterday. Sorry I didn't upload I had a cookout for the WVU game and was busy. Now I just need to clean the wires up, it's a huge mess.

Then I gave her a nice bath

Havent posted anything in awhile. Sorry! Not much has been going on, just school and crap like that. I got accepted to UNOH to go to school to be a Automotive-High Performance Technician :D. How cool is that?
But onto the car! What you guys want and not my life story.
Well first my girlfriend bought me a very nice shift boot for my birthday which I finally turned 18! So I bought the password JDM shift extender and a Skunk 2 weight shift **** which I love. Highly recommend.

This is how it all looks (Crappy IPhone Pic)

Next my fuse box needed replacing so I bought a new one thanks to hondacrx5spd. Go check out his for sale thread hes very easy to deal with.

While I was doing that I seen a black box. Found a Shock Sensor and all the wires were already cut so I took it out and the rest of the wires.

I also began to put new speakers and head unit in. My dad bought me some for my birthday. They are Infinity Reference 6032si. Ill let you guys know how they are.
QUESTION! What is this? Looks like a snap ring of some sort feel out behind the steering wheel when I was tracing the Shock Sensor wires.

Some goodies!

Hope you like my redneck boot fix :-)b

 not going in the car
Random pic

Haven't really been doing anything to the car lately. I have just been buying some parts here and there to finish up the Interior. I'm trying to finish it up then move onto the exterior to get it ready for body work and paint. I have a question should I do all the suspension work and everything first then body work and paint or just jump right into the paint? I'm thinking of doing suspension work and tightening the body up first. Some peoples ideas would be great. Here is some pictures of stuff I've got.
I invested in a new hood because mine is bent up a bit.

I'm still missing the other piece. But its better than nothing :D

Heres some random pictures

Took a little cruise with my buddys. The truck is a Nissan Hardbody I have a love for that truck. A Civic I forget the year. And then my little baby :-)b

One of the good days we finally had in WV. Now its back to cold weather and snow

So I'm sitting in my dorm bored so I decided to fill you guys in on whats been going on. I sold the 240 because I needed the money for college and some stuff for the car. I completely gutted the interior so I can get it into paint over the winter since it won't be driven any. I took some sound deadening out also, just to get rid of some unwanted weight even though its not much.
Here is what it weighed with one seat and the interior gutted and some sound deadening out.

Everything out

Dry Ice doing its job

Putting some temporary paint down this is just primer I also put a few white coats down.

Here is the temporary setup. I have both seats in now.

Random Picture

So I got some pictures done by one of my buddy's and I think they came out pretty good.

It has been awhile since Ive updated this. Only a few things have happened. I'm low on money atm. Its hard being 19 paying for your own place, and going to school everyday. I will be getting a new roommate and job here soon so the parts should be able to start stacking up. Well thats what I'm hoping lol.
I bought a wink mirror and I LOVE IT. It was hard to get used to but after a 20 min drive its 1000x better than a stock mirror.

I also took it in to get an alignment and I already new the wheel bearing was going out but then they said I needed a new inner tie rod so I bought those. Was wanting to buy both front wheel bearings and all new inner and outer tie rods but then I seen the prices at the dealership and that quickly went out the drain.

I bought some Wipe New so once it warms up I will be applying that. To make everything nice and pretty. The next thing I'm wanting to buy is a J's racing front lip. The replica of course lol
Here is some pictures from summer. I ran into a 1st gen that was for sale so it was a good opportunity to get a few pictures.

Then ran into this up at my school

Random picture for no reason lol

So I moved back home from college because I had a great job opportunity pop up. I got the job and I love it, it's great pay, and i am back home with family and friends. I can actually afford parts now so that is a major plus.
Not much of an update, but I did get my inner tie rod put in. Also the wheel bearing is ready to be pressed in, I just have to find somebody with a press. The next thing I will be doing is a timing belt job. It started slapping while I was up at school so I haven't been driving it. Sorry no pictures of anything, I will go get some of it torn apart in the next few days.
I did do something though! Got it for $100, just needs some love to clean it up.

Well it's been awhile guys. The car is now in the garage up on jack stands getting all new suspension! I started with some Skunk2 UCAs
Everything is being either getting replaced or sand blasted and powder coated. Also will be putting some new undercoat in the wheel wells
I ended up buying my own press to do the bushing work. I went with a 20 ton just in case I need it in the future
Kitty approves
Did some work today. Tore down the rest of the passenger side and put some 3M undercoating in the wheel well. Now I need to take all the bushing out of the LCA, and take the Hub, and wheel bearing out of the spindle to get everything on this side powder coated. Here's some pictures.
The 3M coating is really nice and seems like it will hold up wonderful. Worth the $11 a can

Everything except the spindle ready for powdercoating.

Bought myself a nice Christmas present as well

Got my stuff back from powder coating today, will try to get all the bushings in this weekend. Time to order new hubs, extended lugs, and sway bar links.
Here is everything installed into the spindle. Tearing the driver side apart as we speak, I think I will be taking the engine out so I can get the bay painted and also get the subframe powder coated before i throw all the new suspension in.

Well one thing led to another!

Update on everything happening.
I undercoated the fender wells and and the bottom of the chassis

Some more powdercoated goodness [emoji7]

Got the calipers ceramic coated because powder would flake off at high heat. The ceramic is good for 2000 degrees F

Need to figure out what spring rates I'm going to be running then I can order my coilovers! Probably go with BC racing coils. As soon as it's back on the ground it's going to the paint shop to respray the engine bay and then I can move onto the back suspension and engine stuff
Just ordered everything to rebuild my steering rack. New bushing and inner/outer tie rods, so hopefully this weekend I can have the rack back together and then I can start throwing the front end back together. One step closer! And I figured I'd show you guys what I did to my daily.
Lowered and some BBS LM reps

Ready to go to paint! Now to find a shop that won't take a month to do it.

Put a few coats of paint on the transmission!
Before

After

Now to get the engine ready for the same treatment
Well that was stressful

A lot went on today, a head gasket and timing belt job turned into a full rebuild. When we took apart on of the Pistons was seized (side to side motion, not up and down) so figure the rings were locked up. And we were right 2 Pistons had locked oil rings. Other one all of them were. Not damage to the walls thankfully.

Kitty worked to hard so she needed a nap [emoji23] (the garage needs a major cleaning)

Picked these up for $120 locally! A set of 75.5mm PG6 pistons, got lucky on finding these.
A set of coaster AFH sent me with an order awhile back, peep that perfect climate control I picked up for $100!

I try to wait to do big updates but I just get to excited to share my progress with you guys!
First I got my engine back from the machine shop

Then I proceeded to throw some engine paint on it to make it look better

As I was driving to pick up some papers form work my buddy who works at the body shop where my car is sends me this!

You can definitely say that I'm pretty excited!! [emoji16]. Will be ordering everything to rebuild my engine soon, I just got laid off from work and am drawing low income until work picks back up.
Little update for you guys. Just ordered everything to rebuild my engine. Progress has been slow, still a lot of little things to do that's taking me forever. Here is some progress pics.
Finally back in the garage!

Suspension all put back together and looking pretty

Here it sits as if right now.

And decided to spruce up the Intake manifold I bought, I took this picture right after I dropped it lol. I have repainted it so there is no chips

On a side note I'm really digging the downstar bolts

That's everything for now really. Engine should be put back together in a week when I get my parts in.
