Default Rebuilt engine suggestions

Gave my daughter my Camry, got myself a new 4Runner. Now to rebuild the '97 CR-V over the next 1.5 years in prep for my son. Daughter drove this thing into the ground, so looking to put in a rebuilt just in case. Any particular companies anyone has used that has been great?

Hmotorsonline.com
i just bought a used jdm motor from them and the prices are fair and the business is big and well organized. They have a ton of inventory and you get a warranty, and 100% startup guarantee. They also have some sweet jdm parts I'll be sourcing from them. Hope that helps

I will also vouch for hmotors. If you're in or near north Hollywood you can pick up the motor and pay cash. It will save you $$

Just purchased a JDM engine for my '99. Paid just under $400.

The guarantee is only valid if the engine is installed by an ASE certified tech. They are also very strict in enforcing the duration of the guarantee.

If you go this route see if they'll provide compression test results. Check the oil on the dipstick, look into the oil fill opening with a flashlight and take note of condition.
Not alot you can do with an engine on a pallet.

If they have several, look at as many as possible.

Just got one myself one for 550 shipped. Super clean engine; under the valve cover was so clean it was amazing! Youll have to use a USDM Oil pump due to the CKF sensor plug on USDM wiring harness or the car will not start. So I would either use the old oil pump or, do like I did, and get a brand new OEM Honda pump from Hondapartscheap.com for 120. The oil pump is the heart of the engine, don't skimp if you want this car to last another 10 years

EH2,
Did your engine come with Alternator and other accessories attached? If so, any usable herein the US?
Change your timing belt and water pump while in there?

The alternator plug looks like the same so ill be using it. the motor came with intake manifold, dizzy and power steering pump. im going to use my USDM manifold and dizzy but im going to reuse the power steering and alternator Im sure you cant use the dizzy since you need a ckf sensor on usdm motor. yes I would change both of those out, it is much easier doing timing and all that with the engine out of the car. Im going to reuse the pump and belt off my usdm engine seeing as I just swapped it over like 300 miles ago.

Going to do the same with belt and water pump.
I was told the alternator couldn't be used. I'll ask why when I go there next.
I also need to swap out the intake as the JDM motor has the "tall" snorkel looking intake.

Swap out your intake, the pulley for the power steering pump and driver side mounting post and the bracket that bolts up to block/transfer case from youre USDM block. I had to replace my lower timing belt cover because it was trash and the jdm cover doesn't fit because the USDM motor uses a CKF sensor. ill be swapping the engine in tomorrow. Also im going to use the JDM alternator, I don't see why it wouldnt work; the plug is exactly the same.....
