Default Milled head please help

I have a h22a head milled .20 stock cams this is going on a h22a4 block with JDM pistons in it..looking for alittle better compression then stock do I have to run adjustable cam gears..I see wear I could run thicker head gasket will that still give me better compression or is it putting me back to square one as of I had a non milled head..I am new to all this so any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks all...

try different compression testers i bet one will read higher than the others.

you changed pistons to go from 10:1 compression to 10.6:1 compression. milling probably took you to about 11:1. you are already at higher compression than stock based on parts alone. if your engine is cold or the rings are not set that could lower the compression test, but the numbers you cite are within the range of variance that i would call reasonable for your parts.

using a thicker head gasket will bring your compression back down to as if you never milled the head at all.
there is not need for adjustable cam gears either. with 0.020" shaved off, you have affected cam timing by less than 1 degree. it will affect next to nothing regarding timing.

Thank u so u r saying I can run a stock gasket with milled head and won't have to worry about timing with only milling .20..

How much can be milled off the stock head of a B20 without needing aftermarket parts? Pretty much doing a quick head job and since it’s off I wanna get the most compression possible without purchasing nothing more then what I already have...

I have shaved over 0.070" off a b20a5 head before with great results. If you use stock cam gears though, you WILL need to enlarge the exhaust valve pockets in the pistons. This is because shaving the head that much retards the timing, and the exhaust valves will start to kiss the pistons.
