Hi, I just recieved my H22 swap from HMO and it has a square hole in the tranny right above the H22A stamp. Is this normal? Also how do you tell if the engine is an USDM or a JDM engine? I did search, but came up with no results. Let me tell you, for a year 2000 H22A with supposedly 17000 miles, the engine sure is dirty. Also, when I take the AC off, what belt should I use? Thank you all for your help!

 

Yeah, that hole you are talking about is supposed to be there, although there's a rubber plug that goes in it. Call whoever you got your motor from and request one. That hole is used to time the engine, as the timing marks are on the flywheel.
If it just says H22A it's JDM. AS for the belt, I don't have the number offhand. I can try to get it for ya off my belt. It only took two trips to the parts store and a good measurement to get one, but I'll try and save ya some trouble..

 

Hey EK22Tim i made those trips Yea we got the 37" 6 groove belt. Don't bother having them look up the size it's not listed, they have to go thru and look for the belt. It's there make them look!!

 

Thank you very much! But I still need to know how I can tell if its a jdm or usdm. It says H22A and underneith it it says 1101739 and there is like a sticker near it that says M2A4-3001104. Is that the vin number? Thanks again for all your help!

 

You can also ask for a alt. belt for no AC.

I'm not sure about the 2000 h22. Does it have an internal or external coil?

 

jdm h22's are internal coil

as for a belt without the a/c compressor, you will need to go to an auto parts store and get a 34K6 or 35K6 belt, if i am not mistaken.

i tried lookin at the stamps on my alt belt couldn't read it since it's friggin dark as hell at 5 pm

 

M2A4 is the tranny code. M2A4 is the JDM tranny without LSD. M2B4 is the JDM tranny with LSD

 

if it just says h22, it is jdm - if it says h22a1 or h22a2, it is u.s.

 

There is no H22A2...it's H22A4 for 5th gen
