Default Major power loss on top end

I have a B20B and after around a certain RPM, say around 4,000rpm, it falls on its face. Major power loss. Pulls like a B20 should up until that RPM. Maybe a little lower or higher up but it has absolutely no top end pup at all. I know non vtec b series don't but this is ridiculous. It doesn't pull like a B20B should around 4,000rpm.

I just had this B20B swapped in from a B18B1 and it was doing the same thing. The old dizzy from the B18 was put back on the B20. It's some aftermarket one. I have the original Honda dizzy still from the B20 but it's OBD2 and I don't have time to wait for an adapter harness.

Would this be the dizzy or is my cat clogged up? It has a high flow cat welded up but the rest is sorta rusty stock exhaust. Check engine light only for EGR which I do not have. Code 12.

What ECU are you using that would give you an EGR code (code 12) ??? What chassis do you have this installed in ???

Failed to mention the person who swapped in my B20B tried several different ECUs and it still pulled the same. No power past 4,000rpm. Friends told me they could smell rotten eggs behind me about a week ago when I got on it.

Found the problem, disconnected the whole exhaust from the cat to the muffler. Now running open header where it connects to the cat at the bottom behind the motor. Now it pulls like a scalded dog. How long can I run this open header before it starts messing with my valves? I stuffed a rag in the header last night before I went to sleep so moisture wouldn't get up in there and it had a little bit of a hard time starting this morning. I had to blip the throttle for it to stay running..

I've heard when the valves are still hot not to get cool/colder air up in there or it'll warp the exhaust valves over time.

Seeing as exhaust is high energy and flowing out of the exhaust how would air flow backwards against the exhaust. That makes no sense.
