1991 LX CEL code 12 question
I am getting a CEL code 12 regularly on my 1991 LX with 160K miles on it. I have the F22A engine. I found the code definition to be the EGR - exhaust gas recirculation lift valve. I have searched and found several references to probable repair solutions.
I am not experiencing any significant driveablity issues with the car and mpg is around 25 mpg.
My question is do I really need to worry about the potential problem or can I just ignore it?

I would fix it. My thoughts are that it is there for a reason( although I might not know what that is). With my cars it has rarely been the egr itself. Rather it has been a solenoid or vaccumn line problem
It's intermittent. Sometimes it comes on and other times it does not. The same thing with the brake light sensor; sometimes it is lit and other times it is not. I know that all of the brake lamps are good so I figure that it is a connection issue.
So since the CEL code 12 is intermittent and the CEL doesn't light each time that I drive the car, is the EGR valve lift inadequate anything that I need to worry about or can I just ignore it?
the code 12 means the egr valve itself is sticking so the ecu isnt seeing any lift(valve opening when it should)
you can take off the valve and clean the pintle and it probably would fix it but it would be best to clean all the ports. there are howto's in the faq's stickies at the top of this subforum
