Well this is what happened some ******* ran me off the road last night. I was going about 65 at the time and I went into to the grass hit a few bumps and was back on the road. Now of course I was pissed so I speed up to catch him. I was going about 90 to a 100 trying to catch him when all my in dash lights came on and my car shut off. I pulled over at a gas station and there was a little bit of smoke (a very tiny amount of smoke) when I popped my hood but that could have been from my brakes.

Well the car started back up and we let it idle for a little bit. Well when the car would idle with no lights on all the in dash lights came on my battery light, check engine, all the doors were shown as open, and my e-brake light. Well when ever I would rev it up a little all the lights would turn off. Now when I put on my lights and did this all the lights stayed on. no matter if I rev the motor or let it idle.

I took it to a shop to have the alternator checked cause thats what we thought it was but the alternator is fine. What could this be?

 

check your fusebox. I forgot the official title of the fuse but it deals with the alternator power, it blew on my brothers boosted civic and it cause similiar electrical hell. Check fuses.

 

What year and model?

 

2000 lx or ex 4 cylinder. F23 turbo.

 

I've been seeing a few bad alternators on those with the lights on on the dash like he describes. They have all been AC Delco. If you unplug the connector on the alternator when it is acting up, the lights will go out if that is your problem.

 

Why am i not surprised?

that questions is irrelevant, all 6th gens were made in the USA(and some in canada). anyways, all of them would start with 1HG...

 

Wrong. Approx 5% of production was made in Japan. The 2001 LX 4dr sitting in my brother's garage is proof.

I specifically looked for this car and this J-VIN # when I helped them (brother & sister-in-law) buy the car. Scrolling thru Norm Reeves computerized inventory....they were super rare....

ok, looks like my source was wrong...i work at a honda dealer and i have yet to see a 6th gen made in jdm land.

 

they are really hard to find...

 

Are all the Accord coupes made in the USA?

 

that...I'm not sure of. Apparently in late 2000 and into 2001, they imported a few accords in general to make up for the demand. CG665 and CG655's (LX, 4dr, manual, auto) were what I remember. But then again, we weren't looking for coupes.

No, just curious. Japanese Accords always seem to use different parts than the US version. We hardly ever stock them.

 

i work at honda also and out of the ~10,000 accords I dealt with this summer MAYBE 10 were J vins. Crazy Rare.

 

im looking for a coupe!
