09 CRV Fuel Filter Replacement/Location
Hello ,I am doing a Fuel filter repair on a 09 CRV 4Cyl.I have tried google for research ,but I could not gather efficient information.I have read that on the 98 model .The fuel filter is under the hood. But on newer models ,the location may have changed.I have read also that is along side the fuel pump assembly ,under the rear passenger seat .Any information, advise and tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks
A few years ago many auto manufacturers started to use non-serviceable fuel filters. They're basically mounted in the fuel tank along with the fuel pump and the intention is that the filter is supposed to last the life of the pump itself. I can't say I fully agree with the concept, but none of the OEMs asked me...and so it is. I looked up the fuel filter number for your car on Rock Auto and it wasn't listed, so I checked Purloator's web site to see what number they listed and the number is listed as N/S (not serviceable). Based on this, I'm going to say Honda switched to the in-tank fuel filter some time prior to 2009 for the CR-V. If you REALLY want to service the thing you may have to buy it as part of the fuel pump itself. Call your local Honda dealer's parts department and see if they list a separate part number for the filter itself, or if it can only be had when purchased with the pump/sending unit.

Because you'll never make it through the warranty period without changing the oil or air filter. Heh...crazy like a fox.

That's going to be one expensive fuel filter to replace after the warranty period. Although I was reading up on the non-serviceable fuel filter. Supposedly it has 10 times the filtering capacity of cellulose type filters and by putting it in the tank, the fuel washes the dirt off so it's supposed to be self-cleaning. I would be pissed if my super fuel filter let dirt through and it damaged my fuel injectors or engine.
