ok i have a 1997 ex automatic so the iacv is under the throttle body. i took everything apart and cleaned well. the actual iac sensor wouldnt come off so i tried not to spray in that hole. the map does not have a gasket which i found strange and figured might have been the idle problem to begin with and i had to reuse the gasket on the iacv and the throttle body gasket. im wondering if these could cause me not to start by letting more air in or whatnot and if i could use regular gasket maker sealer for it instead napa said i cant get just the gaskets and i need to get the part with it and they want 204 for just the iacv which is crazy high. it just cranks and cranks. i let sit apart for over a day to dry all solvents. i checked all my connectors and they are in place. i have heard map and iacv are the same but on the automatic they dont seem to be able to reach to interchange so im 99% sure they are right. any help on things to check would be appreciated. this is my girls car and she leaves for college in 4 days... i was trying to help her idle not kill it.... she is pissed and i am in the dog house for this one..

i took the map gasket off of another civic i have around. same size. and the iacv one wasnt to bad looking. would those gaskets really cause it not to even start?
I would check to see if you can pull any CEL codes. I suspect since it won't start, there should be some populating after 30 seconds or so of cranking the motor.
