My original rack and pinion is shot. Disconnected everything, mounting bolts, steering wheel, and hoses. Lowered rear sub frame by 1 3/16" as shown in my Haynes Manuel. Still cannot get the rack and pinon out. The stud that connects to the steering, does not have the clearance to get through the opening in the firewall. I cannot lower the sub frame any more without having to remove the entire sub frame. Any hints or recommendations?
