99 Honda civic dies while driving
Hello, my 99 honda civic dies while driving (mostly happens while at the freeway) at first it feels like it doesnt accelerate or it doesn't switch gears then it dies and gives me a light that looks like a little faucet and the battery light. I try to crank up the engine but it doesn't start up, however, if I wait a few minutes it will start and continue to run like if nothing happened for a few days, only to randomply shut down unexpectedly again.
I've checked the fuel pump for obvious physical obstructions but it looked really clean, replaced the fuel filter because the gas out of it looked muddy. It kept dying on me. I ran a fuel pressure test, when the engine is idle it reads 30 PSI and about 36 PSI when the engine is accedlerated.
Is the pump delivering fuel at the right pressure?
NOTE: I also have a check engine light poping up everyt now and then. The scanner reads that the cilinder one is misfiring. I was wondering if this has anything to do with it.
Thanks for all your future replys.

First thing to check is the PGM-FI Main Relay... Main Relay Fix and Troubleshooting (Honda, Acura) a common problem on Honda/Acura and an easy fix.
The other common intermittent problem is the ign. coil it can fail when it gets hot and work again once it cools down, the same goes for the fuel pump but less so. 94

Changed the main relay, now it dies three seconds after it starts. I'm now tempted to replace the gas pump. I mean at least it used to run for a few miles between shutdowns. Your reply will ve very helpful and thanks again for taking the time.
After the car being seating down for a few days, I replaced the coil and the main relay with parts from ebay. It wouldnt start up at all. Then I replaced the fuel pump and installed back the old main relay and the car started up, only to die about half of mile later. I replaced the main relay with one from autozone and then drove for about 20 miles and no shut downs happened. I could say that it has been fixed and the main cause was the main relay and the fuel pump.
Thanks all for your help.
