99 civic ex - speedo doesn't work after auto to manual swap
I know this is probably been over a few hundred times. I have already did the auto to manual swap. Auto trans went bad so son convinced me to install a 5-speed as he
had all the parts. Everything worked before I did swap including the speedo. Now the speedo doesn't work. We put the manual ECU in and the car runs horrible. So its
presently running the Auto ECU so i can drive it. But the speedo doesn't work. We changed out the speed sensor still the same. Read that you possibly have to
change out intake manifold to get the manual trans IACV, is this correct? or is there a way to splice into ECU so I don't have to change out manifold. This EK has the
original engine.

stock Civic, We swapped out VSS tried two others known to work from other cars.My
son says trans is a D series. The Cluster works cause it worked fine before we did the swap.

Swapped out 5 speed trans, axles, starter, installed clutch hydraulics, wired up for key release, havent done reverse lights yet.
I have two manual trans ECUs, but installed it and car ran like ****. so installed the original ECU (automatic) back in to drive car.
thats all I think we did, the car was orginal automatic, i bought from original owner and trans was slipping. Also it has cruise, but it
no longer works. Everything worked before i did the swap. Do I have to hook to scanner to retrieve the codes?

Check under the intake manifold to see if the engine harness has chaffed through on the stiffener bracket. Even if it worked before the swap the harness may have been disturbed enough to have shorted out. See link to TSB here ---> http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/tsb/civic/x99-029e.pdf
That is correct. Or you can drill and tap the holes on the back of the IM to mount a wire IACV, it's easier to swap the IM though since it needs to come off either way and you will still need a manual throttle body. The IM also needs to come from a '99 - '00 EX if you want to keep the air injection, '96 - '98 doesn't have it. I suggest you sell the original intake to someone with a D16Y7 looking to make a little more power (All Y7s used the same 3 wire IACV the automatic Y8s used so it doesn't matter what transmission type it's going on)

No, but you will need to do a little rewiring anyway. See below:

Car runs like **** with the manual ecu because you didn't do the iacv wire swap and haven't or the harness is fucked up. ohm test the vss wires that lead back to the ecu and to the cluster. You probably chopped something.
