Hey guys. Just finished installing an Aeromotive 340Lph Stealth fuel pump in my 1997 Civic Hatch. The power and ground wires are routed to OEM positions; Power to plastic covered bulkhead on fuel pump housing, and ground to body of fuel pump housing. So upon reinstalling, I measured the continuity between the OEM bulkhead terminals for a safety check. I have continuity between the terminals. Aren't they supposed to be isolated from each other? If I make the power connection to the top of the bulk head and flip the car on, I and the car will be destroyed because power will short to ground right?

edit: so i disconnected the ground and power from fuel pump housing. The continuity comes from the leads of the actual fuel pump. But is there supposed to be continuity between the fuel pump leads? Just doesnt seem right....

 

Yes there should be continuity. If the fuel pump were open circuit, it couldn't work. When the motor starts to spin it will draw less current than the resistance suggests.

 

What is the impedance between the terminals?
Any electric motor will show continuity between the pos.+ and neg.- terminals what is needed is to know what the resistance is, [in ohms]. 94
