1998 CR-V tachometer resistor R1 value needed.
Hello, I've been driving with a bad alternator pushing 18V. As a result the tach stopped working + burned lights fuse. Took it out to find out that the R1 resistor is fried. I am wondering if anybody would have this information? You can see the R4 resistor orange-white-orange and gold on the picture. Looking for color information in same order for R1 because coating disintegrated as well as the color bars.

It’s been a very long time since I played with resistors but if you can make out the colours you can work out the ohm’s resistance – See example chart below.
Thank you UK-Kev for your reply. Unfortunately it is not what I am looking for. I am looking for the band-code of resistor R1 because it is all gone when the resistor fried (not very clear on the picture I agree). I hope someone has a tachometer handy to get this information.

Hi, I am still looking for this info. Had no chance at the scrap yard, they will sell a complete cluster though.
If there's someone interested, here's a picture of how to dismantle the cluster, not too difficult, must just go slowly with the snaps. The tach is held in place with three screws.
The color band of Resistor R4 is Orange-White-Orange for the ohms value, and gold for the resistor's precision value.
I need the color band for resistor R1, in the same order. A picture would be good too.
I am posting on four different forums. Once I get the info, I will post it on all of them, and will give feedback after the repair.
I found out I will have to replace the ZD1 zener diode as well.

Edit: 'must just go slowly with the snaps.' was 'must just go slowly with the two snaps.' because on top of the two snaps that hold the instrument panel in place, there are snaps to hold the 'window' on the gauge assembly.

Hi again, this is another attempt to get R1 resistor value on the tachometer printed circuit board... if someone is in a situation where it is possible to dismantle the instrument cluster from the dashboard, I could send the Honda CR-V service manual for complete instructions. Thank's.
Update: problem solved. A friend, electronic tech, looked at it. He used a 1N4737 7.5V zener diode, a 180 ohms 1/2 watt resistor and the tach is working fine now.
