Just bought a 93 Civic DX Hatchback with a D16Y8 engine after owning a 2012 Honda Fit for a couple years. Needed a second car after my 94 Geo Metro became too much trouble and a coworker was selling this guy and I jumped on it. Have been happily driving it for a couple weeks and finally decided to introduce myself. Been lurking for some time and have tons of questions. These forums have been great for finding more than enough information about my car. Love it!

I hope to become a part of the community and am considering starting a project post as I have tons of work to get through. Body work being the scariest for me.

Already changed the VTech gasket with your guys help and next I will probably change all the belts in it next (came with the car sans the Timing).

I am am getting a whining noise that sounds like the power steering but with no change when turning the wheel. Is it safe to remove the belt and run the car to listen if the noise goes away?

Probably going to make a post about this if possible if no reply, also going to keep looking for an answer.
