99 Accord EX - Not the Transmission, but what???
Can be accelerating and nothing -- rpm gauge goes up/down, but speed doesnt. Then it kicks in and may be fine, or may go back and forth a few times before getting to speed. 2 places checked - 1 said transmission, 1said not. Replaced Catalytic converter. All was good for about 2weeks and it happened again. Replaced transmission. 2 weeks later same thing happened 1 time, and not again for 4-5 weeks. This time it happened at 40 mph accelerating on interstate. Took about 2 minutes of up and down before it went up and stayed. 3 hours later on the way home same thing, but accelerating at 30 mph. Obviously it isn't the transmission, so what should I have looked at next? I need to know what I'm talking about before I go to the shop so I don't get taken for a ride! THANKS!
Is it just the tachometer bouncing around or is the engine actually revving up and down?
Transmission functionality is greatly affected by the running condition of the engine. If the MAP or TPS is reading incorrectly the PCM may command an up or downshift when not desired. Bad enough it may cause gear hunting.
Beg/Borrow/Steal a code reader and see if there are any stored codes.

Mad Mike, the first time, I was accelerating and the Tach went up but speed didnt change, then Tach dropped, speed lurched a bit, tach did too, then it hit speed and was fine. Another time Tach dropped, speed dropped, both went up, tach dropped, speed remained steady but didn't increase on acceleration as Tach flopped up/down a couple of times, and then all was fine. On one occasion once at speed I took my foot off the gas and the speed did not decrease at all. Thanks!

Theres nothing in your posts that said you put a brand new rebuilt transmission.
It could be a computer issue if its the same issue with different trannies.

I'm confused. My original post says, "replaced transmission."
It came direct from Honda, "Honda Re-Manufactured" with everything needed -- except a new car to put it in, dangit!

Where exactly in your previous posts does it say "It came direct from Honda, 'Honda Re-Manufactured' with everything needed -- except a new car to put it in, dangit!" ?
Thanks holmesnmanny for reaching out to help. We seem to have quite a communication problem.
My original post said I replaced it. In my last I was clarifying for you that it was direct from Honda and remanufactured by them, along with making a joke (which you apparently failed to see the humor in).
Again, thank you for reaching out. I will have the computer/electrical systems checked out.
Have a great week!
