D15b7 with z6 head
Hi I'm kinda new to the mini me swap and have done a lot of research about it but there are so many conflicting facts and opinions, my deal is I have a 93 hatch with a d15b7 and picked up a z6 head and a spare ecu to chip and socket but the d15 has 238k miles on it and I'd like to rebuild it before doing the swap and wanted to know what my best options are to possible get it close to 200whp without boosting it. Trying to do it cheap but right any suggestions?
Depends what CR you're aiming for. If you want to hit 200, n/a, will be hard, probably going to need custom rods and pistons and a super high CR and a tight tune.
ok so i found a company by the name of performance 2.0 that claims they make custom rods with vitara pistons specificly for the usdm d15b engines, anyone else know anything about them?

your cr is already going to be 10:1/1 ish. 200whp ISNT happening on that setup. forget about it. not without serious coin (more than a b16 swap) or boost.

And even if you do build it to like 13.5:1 with custom rods and pistons (and a stroked crank even? Lol) and headwork and all that, you're going to have to have a super tight tune and run high octane fuel.
Unless you have serious d series love, it's not worth the cost/effort. Swap a b16 or even a cheap b18b1 and you'll get closer, cheaper.
For the cost even, you could likely get an ITR motor and be really close to 200 already, stock, without rediculously high compression and needing a super accurate tune.
I personally wouldn't want to tune that, at super high compression levels your margin of safety goes down, this is why people usually run lower compression for boost, not because lower compression is better for boost in any way. High compression boost yields more power even (and is super fun) but walks a much finer line, one small ping and kaboom, most people would rather give up some (static) compression and compensate with more boost because they don't wanna blow the motor they just spent thousands on building.

Ok yeah I do want to build up my d15b7 reguardless, th e original plan was to turbo it but when I say crower rods for vitaras at 277 bucks a piece I said **** that noise but now that there's a more economical option I'm inclined to take it. D15b7 with custom rods, vitara pistons, tuned ecu and a d16z6 build for under 1500 is a good deal in my mind. I like the idea od a b series swap but then again I love the d series more so any help with fine tuning or helpful bits of info would be greatly appreciated
with LOTS of money. bisi has the luxury of free dyno, r&d, engineering. most do not. the b7 can be made better, but for op's goals, is a bad choice.
Oh yeah, stupid money. I was just saying, that 200HP NA on the B7 I don't believe is attainable, especially with pump gas as I think Bisimoto would have hit it.
