I am installing new CV axles on my 1996 Honda Accord. I noticed that the outer seal on my intermediate shaft is bad and am going to replace that as well. It was very hard to get out (came out in pieces). Does anyone know of a write up or have any instructions on how to replace that seal? I'm wondering if I have to take the snap ring out and pull the bearing out to put the seal in. There is a lip around the edge. Any help would be great. Thanks

 

I think the intermediate shaft is the same on your 96 as my 92. If that's true, you need a press to get the shaft out of the bearing, and the bearing out of the housing. It's an easy process but you need the press.

I think you can replace the outer seal without taking the bearing out.
