CDM ITR 01-1233
Hi All
This will serve as my build thread for CDM ITR 01-1233 163kms (approx 101k miles) (1 of 185 for Canada for 2001 confirmed to me by Honda Canada!) The plan is to restore it to factory stock and enjoy it on the street and at autoX.
I've been lurking and posting a here for the past few months but I've been an HT member for a very long time. My first car was white 1990 Acura Integra which I had a lot of fun with. Modified it in many ways and then moved on. I always wanted to paint it CW white. I always loved the CW ITR and remember seeing them in the showroom back in the day.
Fast forward to 2016 and I had been enjoying my 97 Porsche 911 C4S for the last two years. The value of air cooled 911s had sky rocketed since 2014 and I no longer felt comfortable driving the hell out of it on back roads, auto X and daily errands. At the time I bought my 911, my neighbour had 01-1233 and I drooled over it every time I saw it. In 2015 he briefly posted it for sale on a Facebook group and then took it down. In 2016 he again posted it FS on FB. I immediately got in touch and showed up with a bank draft.
He delivered the car to my home where I put it under a car cover and didn't even drive it. I sold my 911 to a buyer in Oregon and was able to start driving the ITR. I had no idea how much fun it would be to drive! It is so involving and exciting. I feel like I am home when I sit in the driver's seat and take it for a drive. The 911 was a special car and I will miss it for sure. Very nice quality car but also a lot of quirks. The ITR handles much better.
My ITR is not a low mileage unicorn. Previous owners have posted about this car over the years. Originally purchased in Vancouver BC, Canada, I am the sixth owner. Owner #4 had the car in Kelowna BC and it appears they drove it in winter. It has some typical quarter panel rust that has not spread but is there. I plan on a full paint job with new stickers. It has two claims one for the passenger fender (aftermarket fender) and one for the rear bumper which doesn't fit well. Someone added OEM side markers in the wrong locations and there is evidence of a respray around the quarter panels. I have a replacement passenger fender with VIN (2000 LS) and passenger mirror as my housing is cracked).
It has some good and bad things. The OEM suspension was not used for years so it rides very nice. The OEM red seats were not used by the previous owner for years as he had bucket seats. Seats are still in excellent condition front and rear! I am glad someone tinted the rear windows as that helped prevent fading. A switch controlling the antenna is under the CD player. Nice touch as we know the motors often fail.
First I got to work on maintenance. It had been inspected at the local Acura dealer the day before I purchased it and the report noted a few items.
OEM rear trailing arm busings
OEM front brake rotors
OEM front brake pads
Replace 3 broken wheel studs
OEM pcv
Oil and filter change
DMT tail light gaskets
Replace defrost light bulb
I then started installing OEM parts to replace after market etc.
OEM intake tube (GSR was installed)
OEM amber lit CD player (GSR green back lit was installed)
OEM steering wheel reinstalled (Came with JDM Momo SRS. Nice wheel!)
OEM leather with red stich shift ****
Refinish OEM wheels
OEM short wheel lug nuts and locking nuts
OEM Acura emblems front and rear (replaced faded red H rear and red A front)
OEM 2001 ITR floor mats (Still new in the package! I can't bring myself to install these until the car is repainted.)
I would like to compete at autoX so I am looking to get some RE71 tires for some spare 16" Prelude wheels I have kicking around. That or a 15" setup. Will be buying the other parts I need for paint such as new stickers etc. when it comes time to go in for paint.
Here are a few pics Enjoy!

Thanks guys. It crossed my mind to remove the red seats to preserve them. The red seats are special and I want to enjoy them.
Sadly I sold the Momo SRS wheel to a local GSR owner. It was way better than CDM / USDM stock and I miss it. I just want everything OEM stock as it was delivered.

Congrats man.
You mentioned Honda Canada confirmed 185 R's for 2001. Are you going to try and apply for collectors plates next year? Let me know if you go that route, I'm going to try and I remember someone saying ICBC needs a letter from manu to indicate limited production runs.

Thanks!
My understanding is BC closed the door on low production "editions" ICBC considers all Integra as one model. Same goes for my old 97 Porsche 911 C4S. So I have to wait until the car is 25 years old.

Thanks sr-71 The Porsche was such a sexy car. Really well built car. I won't miss the prices for parts and service though. Oil change was close to $300 for 2 oil filters, 10.5L of Mobil 1 and labour.
