Default 98-02 accord F23a1 to F23A jdm swap

- I made this thread once before -

I will be updating with new pics and details ... previous install ~2009

I over rev'd my current jdm F23a - to 13000 rpm .... top of 3rd gear 6.7k into 2nd gear, with that being said -- this motor is STRONG - but.... the F23a1/4 has major structural issues when cast .... leaving the block extremely weak above 6000 rpm.
I am not 100% sure what slipped - but my guess is a rod or bearing and/OR my clutch exploded.

I will fill in the details shortly.

I'm just going for a quick swap - so this is not going to be a sparkling engine -

Parts I bought currently

upper lower - vtec gasket set
EXEDY HCK1000 - clutch kit
Beck Arnley 037-6121 Intake Manifold Gasket Set
Beck Arnley 037-8021 Exhaust Manifold Gasket
Beck Arnley 036-1718 Engine Valve Cover Gasket Set -
Thermostat + gasket
DEA A6572 - front
DEA A6583 - right -- motor mounts
DEA A6570 - trans

I would recommend replacing timing belt .but. I will say i ran my last motor with w/e it had from japan. I had 60K miles on the swap and was still strong

Hello,
I'm wishing to do a JDM swap on my 2001 Honda Accord EX. The original motor had almost 280,000 miles on it before everything started giving out. I was rebuilding/replacing everything I could until last night when the timing belt broke while I was going down the highway. I've been searching on this subject all day, and still can't quite get what is needed to be swapped on the motor before installing, and if there are any different plugs that need to be wired.

I have seen a few threads that say there is a plug on the JDM motor for the temperature gauge on the dash, while the USDM motor temp goes through the ECU. Is there anything I need to do there to make sure my temp gauge reads correctly?

I have learned from my searches that I will need to use my original intake and exhaust manifolds, and I will have to switch out my V-Tech solenoid as well. Any other chages and mods that will better help me in the swap, or with performance, would be greatly appreciated. Figure since I have the motor out I might as well do it now.

Also, if anyone could link me to a guide, or let me know what I would need, to do a tranny swap as well. I have an AT, and would like to switch to a MT, since my girl knows how to drive them.

IIRC the gauge issue is from a changeover during the 98-02 run. I *think* early cars used the separate sensor on the block and the later cars used the PCM for the reading. Just remove/replace the sensors on the new engine with those from the old.

Looking to do an F23a swap from my F23a1 on my 02 accord.
I have not attempted a swap like this before and was wondering if there is any issues with the f23a passing smog in California after I swap intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and vtech solenoid. I was also wondering if anyone has made a general guide for this simple swap or if there is anything tricky I need to be aware of before I buy and motor and attempt it. Thank you!

JDM engines are considered to be the *1 variant of the USDM engines. F23A=F23A1.
As you mentioned just use your USDM engines external components(intake/exhaust/distributor/sensors/etc) and place it on your JDM engine and it will be smog legal.

As for swapping out, I'm actually in the same boat. I currently just don't want to pull my transmission(reality is I don't want to pull my axles/suspension apart, I am a lazy slob) with the engine but I may have to.
