I was involved in an accident and am now trying to get my car re registered as a salvage title. The thing is I just got back from the DMV inspection and the guy told me all it needs is an airbag. I currently have an NRG quick release wheel on it. Is there any way I can remove my steering wheel from my 1996 Honda Civic EX and install it into my 1991 Civic just so the guy can see that it has an "airbag"?? would it be compatible to just fit on my 1991 for an hour?? or any other suggestions???

 

That car doesn't have a airbag even stock
If they want proof put stock steering wheel on

 

"oldschoolmaster" is correct, driver's side airbag wasn't available until 1992 which was the next generation civic.

 

Oldschoolmaster thank you for your quick response! So it should work if I show up with a stock steering wheel? I still have the stock one, just wasn't sure if they found would allow me to put it on without an airbag. Is there anything they can say if I show up without an airbag because I don't want to show up with a stock steering wheel tomorrow then they deny me again and then I show up the next day with my 96 steering wheel on showing them "proof" then them feeling sketchy. THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!

 

96 has different splines just use oem and show them there was no airbag

 

Thanks oldschoolmaster! I got all the stuff I need to reinstall my old stock one, I'm going to do it in a bit, I'll let you know how it went! Going back tomorrow morning!

 

there is no airbag and never was on that car. where are you located that they look for that when it never existed on that model?

 

I got them to think the stock steer had an airbag -__- Had to lie to them for them to pass it, ******* ay! v4lu3s I'm located in SoCal

wow they are usually a bit brighter there since they actually have to have a clue on all the emissions bullshit that gets inspected. considering that airbags were not required by law until 1998, and that many manufacturers did not install them until 92 or 93, and considering your car has no airbag wiring harness nor does the service manual have a section on it. should have had him look up the airbags in alldata for the car so he can feel like a complete moron...
