I hear a click when I press on the brake.
Hello all, I have a 94 Honda Accord LX.
when the car is in park and I press on the brake it clicks.
just one click each time I press on the brake.
any ideas what that could be?
thank you!

Thats the switch(shift lock solenoid) that allows you to put it in gear. Normal for an auto..
Nothing to worry about really as long as it still goes in gear.

In some cars it is quiter, it other cars it is louder.
There is usually some grease on that entire mechanism.
Contact points possibly worn out and making a louder click.
You could take the shifter cover off and see if it needs grease, maybe it will be less noticeable after re-greasing.
Other than that, I would just leave it as is.

Yeah it could maybe use some lithium grease and that may quiet it down but it's just doing its job.
Its a worn part on a 22 year old car.. Most of my older autos have made the click noise, never had a problem with any of them.
If it doesnt bother you and car still goes into gear, id just leave it.

For everyone that's saying this is normal. It's not normal. If it was normal, this would be present when they had the car to begin with. I have a 2013 civic and I just got the same problem and haven't heard the click until today. So maybe it's not an emergency but I can't see this being "normal"

The clicking on a 20yr old car seeming to be 'loud' is normal. I can't readily hear it on a busy street, but I can hear it pretty good in a quiet parking garage.
A '13 Civic is not a '90s Accord.
