2000 Accord F23 Cylinder #3 Misfire
Ok guys I have a 2000 Accord that I'm looking forward to finally running correctly!! Ever since I got it it's had a misfire which the OBD says is cylinder #3 well it has brand new plugs, wires (yes all the proper brands on both), valve cover gasket with plug seals, spotless EGR and EGR port in the intake, a clean PCV Valve and a brand new distributor but it still misfires (CEL on and flashing and car idles like a dually) the car is still perfect driveability wise but it's really irritating and I feel I'm losing power and definitely mileage through this misfire because $5 (around 2 1/3 gallons ATM) goes about 40 miles. I took a snap-on flexible camera and looked at the cylinders through the plug holes and cylinder #3 is the best overall, is this the rings or maybe a burnt valve or the injector? The car has ran this way for around a year (several months before I got it) and hasn't gotten any worse at all that I've noticed can anyone please help me!!! Also it has a bit of smoke that comes from the exhaust a little too much but also not too too bad overall but it also smells pretty rich..it has its rough running moments after hard drives but it's 90% OTT always the same familiar miss, this also rocks my motor every time it misses which makes my belt squeak to the perfect timing of the miss (mostly with A/C on, sometimes while Off) which is pretty embarrassing!! Sorry for such a long post I just wanted to give whoever helps me all the details.....thanks in advance!!!
Also note that before I replaced the distributor (the old one needed the internal seal) I could clean all the oil out of it and it would still flash my CEL but the car would run right my belt never squeaked A/C or off, NEVER missed NOT ONCE! And had more power plus I heard VTEC actually open up more, it would continue running fine (even 40 miles later) until I shut it off then it would start misfiring I had to clean it out again but this only worked 3 times so I thought the distributor just ultimately needed replaced, well I replaced it with a brand new one but that didn't make it any better at all I really don't understand it, sorry I forgot to mention this in the original post!!!
Take the number 3 cylinder fuel injector and move it to the number 1 cylinder and see if the misfire moves.
Also, you need to tighten up your alternator belt. It will only squeak if it's loose.
