Hey, i am a new honda owner and i am worried about the behavior of my engine. I posted earlier about some questions i had and one was about the temp gauge rising. the original question was
"My passenger cooling fan is not engaging. The driver side works but the passenger does not. I drove it fine for 200 miles and almost 2.5 hours but in town the temp gage started rising when i was idling at a stop for 2-3 mins. (Keep in mind its 97 today and this was after 2.5 hours of highway speeds) Once i took off it went back down to normal. The fan clicks and like squeals and when i wiggle it the noise goes away. Is it stuck or broken or what?"
I thought it was a cooling fan issue but today i drove it 0.9 miles to the car wash and the temp gage was at 3/4 on the way back. I thought both fans didnt work, i pulled over and turned it off then clicked it to on to see if the fan was kicking on. Well i saw white smoke coming out and i figured it was just from spraying down the engine bay and it was still wet. Kicked the fan on and it worked, and sent the smoke into the cabin (smelled like coolant, but could have been simple green) So i drove back home (5ish mins) and the temp gauge was around 1/2. I stopped it again once i was home and the white smoke was back coming from the back of the engine by the intake, it was like leaking/bubbling sounding and smelled like coolant.
What could this be? Intake gasket??? Im worried its the head gasket or something serious. What do i do??
Re: New owner, Worried about engine. Help me please
I dont think it is the head gasket, I have had a cavalier with a blown head and a 72 f100 with a blown head. milk shake coolant everywhere. My coolant is lime green and oil is dark brown (needs a change). I think i found the source of the problem. This hose here
is cracked and steaming out coolant. It smokes bad after it gets hot, the gauge rises and falls (which makes me think it needs bled because of an air pocket) but i think since its leaking there, its adding air pockets which causes the temp to fluctuate. I never let it go over 4/5 on the temp gauge. Dont want to risk over heating. but i added coolant in the reservoir and it was blowing air into the coolant reservoir. So should i replace the hose, bleed the system, then be good?
