Default Analyze my 1/4 mi pass in my turbo civic....

ok heres my info:

5th gen 4dr EX with d16z6, greddy 15G turbo, greddy small FMIC, turbo xs type S bov, turbo xs mbc, 2.25" catback, stock cat, stock inj, stock fuel pump.

boost @ 8psi, but leaking back down to 4.5/5psi around 5500rpm:
wheels were heavy *** 17" ADRs with prolly around 28 psi in em (40 series):

reaction .725
60ft 2.439
1/8 mi 10.04 @ 72.61 mph
1/4 mi 15.43 @ 90.51 mph

this time is very bad considering most people are at least in the high 14s with theyre greddy turbo civics. wats my problem here?? do u think i couldve improved on this somehow?? wat do i seriously need to get these times down?? oh yea, i woulda raced on my steelies, but the tires are cheap and bald. i was pulling 2.6 60's on em so they had to be retired..hehe!! can i put some slicks or drag radials on these 14" steelies?? how much would they be? thanx

get a new clutch...and you should also get rid of that 2.25 catback and get a 3" inch catback with a test pipe with slicks and a new catback and clutch u should hit atleasts 14.9s

I'd say another reason is your 17" tires as well, with that much unsprung weight and rolling resistance, you're bound to be a bit slower. Definately get a better clutch, and exhaust as well. Also I think I;d be looking at why you are bleeding away half of your boost as well.

Loose the rims. 14's or 15's with DR's will get you into 14's altho your mph is not real strong

what kind of rpm are you launching at?
are you heating up the tires good? (burnout)
what tire presure?

I went from a 13.989 to a 13.074 in my turbo hatch, just by working out some issues with the tires, and they are crappy street tire...

I'm running 15 psi in the tires, and 7psi in the motor...BTW

aight...as far as the clutch, i do have a better clutch. i have a centerforce stage II which has 60% better holding capacity than stock so no problems there. i guess i could use a test pipe which im gonna be ordering soon. as far as the 17s..i didnt have any other rims to race on at the time. what drag radials will fit stock 14 inch steelies?? lemme know.

lose the exhaust (open header), get some steelies w/ any rubber(glass tires will do better than the 17"adrs ), fix the boost leak and work on your 60'. It needs some work and your weak trap isn't helping you at all. Fix the leak b/c its probably ******* up your A/F and hurting you more than just low boost.

You'll feel the power right about 4000rpm, Other than that I say you should sell the 17's and buy some 15in. rotas.

Yea, your MPH is low, something seems to be wrong.
My friend has a junkyard turbo setup on a 4dr 90? Carolla. He was trapping around 92mph with 17's....you should be faster.

I would get some serious tuning, and make sure your engine is ok.

check all your turbo piping connnections, replace all the clamps with heavy duty T bolt clamps like the ones turbonetics sell.

yea i think my trap is low because im losing my boost on the top end. i shouldve actually shifted earlier than redline since i was loosing it, but i didnt know wat the hell was going on and i only got three runs in. ill be running the next time without a boost leak and on some steelies with at least some decent street tires if not drag radials and a test pipe. the silicone hoses on my IC piping are beat, so i think thats prolly where my leak is coming from. so wat are the best drag radials???

Your "boy" needs to post a time slip cause that's BS. Not with a stock motor with a stock greddy kit.

For you

like everyone else said...

17s are slowing you down, put some nice BF Goodrich Drag Radials on those 14s...

stock cat is holding you back a lot too

anyone else think 8psi is a little much for stock fuel on a sohc?

8psi is fine with my ride....i run rich as **** actually at 5.5psi with the blue box, so turning it up to 8psi leaned it a little whcih was actually a blessing although its still rich. i run so rich, my rear bumper is always covered in black from the license plate over.

If your running that rich then you have problems. Are you burning any oil? That can cause alot of black builup on the back of the car.

this black buildup didnt happen until this stupid blue box was put into use on my ride. at some points it actually bogs when on the gas slightly when it dumps hella fuel out. but anyway, i dont really burn any oil other than a normal amount for a car with 90k miles on it.

you need a $10 test pipe made from pieces at autozone.

You'll likely seen me run at Ricewater, I mean Edgewater.

The guys with the $6000 swaps really hate me.

Slicks, tuning, and driving. Nothing really special, I've just honed my drivign skills in MY CAR. I've made over 600 passes in it. Practice!

Btw most of the passes came before the "ricers" invaded Egdewater. I was getting 10-12 passes a night, never more than 2 lanes full for the street tire cars. Now your lucky to get 5 passes. I usually goto Tristate now. Closer, less cars, WAY better traction!
