Default Electrical issues

Good afternoon,

I am having some electrical issues with my 99 Accord and have no idea where to begin.

Coming home from work I had to slam on my brakes. I had speaker wire in my trunk with no speakers and the wires were still hot and a set of golf clubs. The wires connected to the clubs, melted the wires, and drained the battery. Smoke was everywhere and I'm thankful that there wasn't a fire. I charged the battery and was able to continue home. Then all of my issues start.

My air started to get a mind of its own. I couldn't control of the a/c was on, defrost, where the air would blow. The lights would even create its own combinations that are impossible to do when it worked normally. Now, the fan works and blows fine without any control over temp.

The two fans in front of the motor no longer run and my car shows that it is constantly hot unless I can go fast enough. One had this issue a month ago and I found the fuse was blown. I replaced it and it blew within a week.

Driver side window still works and passenger side doesn't. This is either related or due to it being off track.

I'm tired of dealing with more and more problems and would like to go back to enjoy my car rides again. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Default Re: Electrical issues

Speaker wire????? speaker wires do not "carry" enough voltage/amps to get hot, a shorted speaker lead, will blow the output stage of the amp the lead is connected to.

Your "speaker lead" is either a power lead, or if it is speaker wire it is connected to or shorted to a power source.

With that said, it sounds like you have multiple issues on different circuits and that points to a grounding problem, so first thing to do is the redo your main grounds, batt. to chassis and chassis to engine DO NOT just eyeball them, disconnect/clean/reconnect.

Check all fuses, again DO NOT just eyeball them, test them with a 12V test light, [Not LED type] and test them in the fuse box. 94

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that wasn't a speaker wire but a wire for my amp.

As far as the cooling fans, that was incorrect. I didn't check my fluids since I did refilled that within the last two months.

I'll check the ground connections over the next few days and let you know.
