JDM auto trans on USDM 2001 accord? 4 cylinder
Has anyone swapped a JDM trans into the USDM accord? I have a 2001 accord with the F23A1 with over 250k miles on the original trans. It doesn't shift as well as it used to and I can tell that I'm on borrowed time with this one.
I might be picking up a JDM F23A and throwing it in just to refresh the car a little, and I figure I may as well do something with the trans while I'm at it.
The local importer can get me the auto trans for 350 bucks out the door, which is comparable to the 150k+ mile trans I can find on craigslist or junkyards.
I'd assume the transmissions would be the same, I mean, it would make financial sense for Honda to make them all the same. But I've also heard of people getting CEL's when they do the swap, so I'm not too sure on this one.

First check with a code reader for any stored codes.
98-02 cars have transmission codes that do not activate the CEL or D4 lights.
Check your 2nd and 3rd gear pressure switches, if they are leaking it can cause rough/erratic/late shifts. If the fluid has not been changed in a while change it.
Biggest difference between JDM and USDM transmisions are the sensor connections are different. One would have to install USDM sensors on the JDM transmission to make it work in a USDM vehicle.
