94 Accord still overheating...
So i made a post about my ac not working. In all honesty it has never worked since i bought the car, about 1.5 years ago. Now, I am not sure but does my ac have to work for it to not over heat? I was in a pretty large traffic jam on the way home, which usually takes me about 40 minutes to get home. I didnt get home for about 2 hours. That being because I had to pull my car over twice and shut the car off so the fan could run. This was in the rain, so its not like it was scorching outside. It wasnt until the 2nd time I had started the car that I tried to put the heat at full blast, which kinda helped. TIA opinions welcomed.
The aftermarket brands are usually OK for this type of thing. Just know there's two fan switches and they are not the same. In the catalog they should be marked "on thermostat housing" or "on water outlet" so you know which one.
There are 3 ECT "switches" the ECT switch, [for rad fan] the ECT sending unit [for gauge in cluster] and the ECT sensor, [for the ECU] if fan is not turning on when driving, [engine running] then the problem is the ECT switch, unplug it and jump the plug, if thr rad fan turns on, replace the switch.

Wow, i just feel like an idiot now. So i decided to test my fans by jumping them directly to my battery. Unfortunately 1 of them is not working, and its on the passenger side of the vehicle. If what I am reading from these forums is correct that side is the radiator fan and not the condensor fan correct? So this whole time or at least the last couple of weeks, my condensor fan was kicking on when i turned off the car, is that correct? If so, do you think that would have hurt my car, I always pulled over when it would be in the red which i have only had to do twice.
Both fans do the same thing, they both provide cooling to the radiator and condenser.
If you aren't blowing white smoke from the tailpipe and you don't see bubbles in the coolant you should be fine.

Ok, well, but it would explain my overheating issue wouldnt it? I mean the radiator fan IS THE RADIATOR FAN for a reason and that reason is that it kicks on if the temp gets to a certain point in the motor. In short I guess what I am asking is if I replace the inop fan, is it likely to fix my overheating issues.
That is wrong. I would tell you how it works but it seems you are deadset on the opinion that you already know how the honda cooling system works so I won't bother.
Why do you sound offended? Im obviously on these forums for a reason. If I am wrong please correct me. I was just stating the fact that i felt like an idiot for not knowing my radiator fan was inop. I was hoping if i replaced the fan it would fix my problem. I am not deadset on anything. Sorry you feel this way. All i can say is thanks for what you did share.

Once replaced, jump the wires going to the switch on the t-stat housing (where the lower hose connects) with the key in the "on"/pos-II/run" position and verify BOTH fans are running.

WATER PUMP - SENSOR for 1994 Honda ACCORD SEDAN
If you need this part make sure to buy ONLY from Honda
Keep in mind when you replace the fan switch you need to crack open the bleeder a turn or two at part 12 before you start filling the radiator, then as coolant pushes out the air and only coolant comes out, close the bleeder bolt and continue filling up the radiator.

Check thermostat as well as fan switches. If your radiator is good and you dont have any hose leaks then it could be that your thermostat spring isnt opening up properly. It could all just be a sensor acting up.
