I'm having problems with the transmission it won't go into 1st or 3rd gear it only engages 2nd 4th and 5th and once it engages one gear it won't disengage I have to go in the hood and move a little piece under the air intake to get it back into neutral idk what could be wrong I was thinking of changing the whole transmission but I hope I don't have to it also makes a weird scraping noise when its idling in low rpms like under 1500

 

The weird scraping noise is likely the input shaft bearing going bad or is bad. It's likely the tranny is low on fluid and is causing the conponents to burn up and is likely beyond repair at this point.

 

So I will have to replace the transmission then I thought the shifting problem was the shifter cables

Yea ima have to replace good thing I found one for only 250 thanks for the help

 

It is possible to have a bent shifter fork so give it a good look over when you pull the tranny. Keep us posted how much fluid drains out. I'm curious.

 

Drained it out yesterday it was good caught like 2 quarts and spilled like one it was already black so ima buy some more

The scraping noise is probably the input bearing which you will need to split the case to replace. If it's not that bad, the shifting problem may be a worn shifter, worn cables, or a bent shift fork. I would get a helper in the car to move the shifter to 1st and 3rd while you watch the shift arm.

 

Yea my bad its my first car so I don't know absolutely nothing I've been looking for help on YouTube but I can't find **** ima barely take it to the shop to get it replaced since I don't know **** I'm tryna learn about it on the way I just took the transmission oil out yesterday ima buy some more next week.a
