Default taillight ground?

i already tried searching and couldn't find anything,
my right brake light wasn't working, i figured i blew a bulb so i replaced it, still nothing, i checked it with a volt meter and im getting about 10V back there, on all my lights, so im figureing its a bad ground.
anybody know where ablouts this ground wire goes to? i tired looking all over the place, but the guy that had the car before me wrapped everything in loom, so i cant even tell where it comes out of the loom, i just wanna have an idea where to look
anybody know?
thanks, and i would have look in a diagram in my manual, but i dont have my manual with me, so i figured i would try posting here

I'm not too sure how to start diagnosing the circuit because I don't have a wiring diagram for it..

But if we look at a generic wiring diagram for the tail lights, I might be able to help you..

Lets see.. The circuit seems to be wired in Parallel.. And for that matter, voltage should be the same before each of the bulbs. Meaning at the socket, the wire sending power to the Bulbs should all have the same voltage reading. If not, the socket or its wires have resistance in them. Could just be corrodded..

But if you've for surely have only 10V to each socket, something seems to be wrong.. There seems to be resistance somewhere in the circuit..

More info would help..

But good luck!

OK so your brake light is not working but you are getting 10V back there? Umm how did you ground that particular bulb? using the harness or using the body? There is definately a prob there in any event if your only getting 10V, you should have min. 12V (same as battery, maybe slightly less)

Tough to help without being there, sorry. Any more info?

Alright, heres a bit more info
Both the top and the left side taillight is working fine, its just the right taillight that doesnt work. all the other lights on the right side are working, but they're only getting about 10V. The taillight is getting 10V too, although its not working, like I said I replace the bulb, so the only things it could be is either a bad ground, or a bad bulb socket, I wanted to check the ground first, cause it wouldn't cost any money to do, and I'm thinking that if it was a bad ground, it would cause a power drop(going from 12V down to 10V).

the fuse looked alright to me, dont have any spares to replace it with though
and if it was the fuse, wouldn't the left side lights be out too?

update - I ran a set of alligator clips going from the ground wire coming out of the harness, so one of the taillight bolts, still nothing, so i think i've pretty much cancelled out it being a bad ground, so the only reason i can think of now is a bad socket, although is it possible for only part of the socket not to work, because the running lights seem to be working fine now, its just the brake light part I cant figure out now.
althouh I still dont see why I'm only getting about 10V, that doesn't make any sense to me.
