New Honda owner
Hey guys I bought a 94 jdm accord ex. Has the f22 vtec engine, auto trans. And im working on trying to get it on the road. The car currently has a pob-a51 ecm installed and runs but doesn't seem to run like it should, obviously because it's not the correct ecm, I know it's for a non vtec engine, also throwing a 17 code which is vss. With that ecm. I don't know if the distributor is the correct one as there isn't any markings on it. It is a internal coil distributor and I was told I need a distributor for vtec engine. The car came with a POA ecm as well and I swapped that in to see if it would fix the issue, no luck, it will fire and immediately shut off. So where do I go from here? Thanks
POA is the correct ECM. 37820-P0A-A51 I think is for AT cars. 37820-P0A-A01 would be for MT cars. IIRC an MT ECM will not communicate with the ATs TCU and the car may not stay running without the TCU communication.
EX VTEC F22B1 distributor with the internal coil is correct, a Hitachi unit.
With the P0B ECM hooked up, verify the base timing is correct. Jumper the two wire blue connector(located under the glove box door) and see if the base timing is on the red markings at idle with a timing light. That will be the same mechanical timing between B1 and B2 cars.

So your saying I should put the POB-A51 computer in and check the timing?. When I bought the car that's the ecm that was in it and it runs but doesn't engage vtec, I currently have the POA-A50 ecm installed and the car will fire then immediately shut off.
