For years and years it's always been...Is that a real type R?
Today, a young person that wasn't born when I got my ITR asked...
What kind of car is that?

Lol! I honestly don't recall seeing in person a Type R fake me out, meaning the car has a legit Type R paint color, all OEM Type R emblems and stickers, etc. So when I get that question like the OP, "is that a real Type R?" in my head im like "of course it is!" lol. I am not going to go buy a non Type R model of Integra and buy every Type R aspect to make it a fake me out Type R, lol! Then the next question I usually get, "is it stick shift?", LOL! I don't know, maybe they are knowledgeable but are trying to test my Type R's veracity?!
I usually say its a clone. The easiest way to tell for me at least is the 8th digit of the VIN. If it isnt 1 then it aint one.
Come to think of it I had one guy who was getting custom exhaust done to his TL say to me that he hasn't seen a manual transmission in an Acura...

I had some kid tell me my R was fake because according to him type r's only came in RHD, I basically told the kid to go do some reading. I find that kind of **** a bit annoying

LOL! I'm right there with you my friend! lol!
When I was driving in a neighborhood some kinds under 10 were yelling at me, "nice integra!" There is hope for that generation to notice a discontinued model.
I remember seeing a debadge ITR with no side stickers. But still to me, I can tell it was a real R. Something about it just showed it's true colors. It was NBP. Finally one day I saw him and asked him, and yep was a 01-R. Just can't fake it.
