Need car body repair advice
I got rear ended, my bumper is crushed (can see styrofoam) and my truck is crushed (won't open at all, the key hole is now misaligned due the accident, won't open with latch either). Car was 94 Honda Accord.
Insurance is giving me around 2020 to repair, but estimate costs to repair is 3100 (for trunk and bumper repair. So I'd owe around 1000 to fix. Thing is how do I know if it is worth fixing or not? Insurance declared it was a total loss. They have only done the intial estimate, not taking off the damaged parts to see if there was any unseen damages.
Easy to say to get a new car, but I don't have the money for that now. If I buy a used car off craigslist, it's hard to know if it has any mechanical issues that I'd have to pay more for, than for what I am paying for in repair costs.
also car has leaking coolant (might neet water pump/timing belt replacement at $400) power steeting pump at $100??
I am stuck on what to do?

Once estimate surpasses amount to total it doesn't matter if they missed hidden damage since it's over that amount. What you could do then is receive the amount the car is worth and buy back from insurance. That will probably leave you with some cash in your pocket too. Then you can decide to repair some of it or just do mechanical repairs
You can tell if its worth fixing by the insurance declaring it a total loss. From a financial view, its not worth fixing if the repair cost is more than the car is worth.
From the view of someone who loves their car, it would be worth fixing to them or you.
It looks like only the top right rear 1/4 panel is pushed in a bit.
Cheapest best way to get it done is remove the bumper and trunk yourself.
See if there is any unseen damage under.
Have a body shop pull out any damage if there is any and you replace the bumper/lights/trunk yourself and you decide if you want the parts painted.
Might get lucky and find some used parts same color as yours.
An even cheaper way, remove damaged parts and replce them and just live with the 1/4 panel pushed in and mismatched color parts.
Its up to you on if you want to fix the car, fix it right or make it look better than now but not look oem.
Just from the picture you will need tail lights, bumper cover, trunk and maybe rear bumper support.
To remove the trunk, its trash now anyways, just cut a hole in the top and try to release the latch manualy.
