Default what do I need to know for this head swap?

Is there anything I need to know about or do for putting a f23a1 (casting code PAA-6) head on f22b1 (casting code POA) block? Which gaskets do I get (f22 or f23?) belts, etc.. Car is 96 accord ex obd2 with blown head gasket. I am just looking to put car back on the road. How well does this swap turn out?

More than just a yes or no for this one eh! Like we didn't see this thread coming.

If you are just dropping the head onto the block and keeping the F22B1 intake and exhaust there is nothing more that you need. F22B1 head gasket and timing belt will do just fine. These heads are pretty much identical so there will be no gains to be see in using this head over an F22B1. If anything there will be a very slight drop in compression as the F23 combustion chamber is 1mm larger in diameter at the base. Nothing that you would notice.

if you want to see some gains you will want to use the F23 intake manifold, this will require an 3 wire to 2 wire IAC adapter plate.

The F23A1 intake has a small opening above the injector which, I assume, mates up to a similar opening in the head. If you use the F23A1 head with the F22B1 intake, it seems that it would make a difference as to which intake gasket you would need to use. Haven't tried it yet, so I don't know for sure.

Some of the 95 VTEC Accords had the Fuel Injection Air Control system (FIA) that you are referring to. I don't think the OBD2 ones did though. However, this is usually only a concern if you are using the F23 intake manifold that is equipped with these ports. Using a non FIA intake manifold with an F23 head equipped with FIA should not be an issue.

Long story short. Use the gasket for whatever intake manifold you are using.

initially asked for yes or no to decide whether or not to pass up a good deal. thank you to all for the info, it's appreciated by me and my Honder Donder. I will try to post an update on this when finished. Will the distributor for my 96 work or will I need one from the f23?
Thanks again!

Keep your 96 distributor since it goes with your 96 ECU. Just make sure the seal and bearing in the distributor are in good condition.
