Hey guys, so my Deatschwerks dw300 took a crap after 4 years and I'm in the market for a new fuel pump. I've been looking around and comparing different pumps. I'm currently making a little over 400whp, and planning on re-tuning hoping to break 500whp.
DW300: flows great, lasted me 4 years but that still seems like a short life to me. Anyone else running this pump? I was on 91 octane. 55base psi, 20psi boost 407whp. Not sure how close I was to maxing the pump out. How much power can be made on this pump with pump gas / race gas? (No E85 as there is not 1 single E85 pump in my city)
Aero 340: seems to flow great but I've read MANY reports / threads of them failing pretty commonly. Also there tends to be an issue where if you're at 1/4 tank, the pump won't work.
AEM 320: possibly just another rebranded China pump? Not sure on that. Looks like it flows well, no huge amount of reviews or data in the years it's been out so it makes me uneasy.
Walbro 400 / 450: looks like it's a beast of a pump, quiet, and haven't read any reviews of it failing early. Only thing about this is that i don't feel comfortable with running 8 gauge wire and a 30/40 amp fuse. People are melting 10 gauge with this thing...
What are you 400hp and up guys running? What's your fuel setup and your power?

I'm on an OEM DENSO fuel pump from a Toyota Supra from 10 years ago, at 426whp on 93 Octane and 530whp@26psi using C16. It's about maxed out, not sure what I'll use next. Perhaps an Aeromotive or Weldon..
On my other project car, using an old Walboro 255 from 2005. No problems at 400whp so far. .

My walbro 255 failed on me in 6 months, I replaced it with a aem 320lph and it worked fine until I sold the car less then a year later though. The aem pump came with a pretty shitty looking small filter that I didn't care for too much.
Anyone have any input on the treadstone 340lph fuel pumps?

Walbro 255 bought it 5 years ago, had it on my boosted delsol wrecked the car and moved it to my current civic, still works perfectly @ 400HP no complaints here
Maybe I just got a lemon walbro 255 because my wrx has had the same walbro 255 for 8 years. The one I had on the civic that failed was hard wired with a relay to the battery. On my wrx the fuel pump doesn't run at 100% duty cycle unless your wot, it kicks down duty cycle for idle and cruise. Unlike a Honda were its 100% at all times. So I'm sure that has an impact on fuel pump life as well.

Had a walbro 255HP before this dw300. Made 340ishwhp. Ran great until I started having fuel problems. Pulled the pump out of the tank and the little nipple that holds the sock filter in place broke off, causing the sock to keep falling off as well. After about 4-5 times of messing with the filter I left it out and dropped the dw300 in.
I'd like to use the aeromotive 340 but the fail reports worry me.

Im on my second Walbro 450. First one failed of unknown reasons after 3 years of use. Just started losing pressure one day tuning on the dyno. E85 its whole life.
But they are great pumps. Im at 75% DC with FID 2000's with 43psi base pressure so not working the pump crazy hard.

I'll get some links for you asap Shodan, currently on the John and going to shower.
Mostly just searching google links though, some evolution forums pop up with some failures to report. I couldn't sworn I read some here as well

340 Aero stealth... thumbs up... haven't had an issue yet... good reviews on it. Not sure where you got bad reviews on it... been a winner a couple years ago over some of the comperable units...
Obviously 10 gauge and relay. -6 in 1150cc inj 40 lbs fp. 60% duty cycle on built h23v 15 psi t4266 475 whp 373 trq

Google reviews are always weird. The testimonial of failure a lot of times are from other things and they just blame the pump. But who knows. .. I thought there was another better source

Decisions decisions...
That's good to hear. What do you think about 12 gauge to relay? I literally JUST got done wiring it all up to be prepared for a new pump and if I have to re-do it I'm Going to pull my hair out.Yeah it's all google searches. And to be fair, I AM typing in "aeromotive 340 fail" so the search results are biased.

That's why I don't use them really. If you are looking for Zebras, you'll find them no matter how hard you try to NOT look for them.

Very true. I think the walbro 400 / 450 is out of the question for me as its capable of making over 800hp, a number I have no interest in reaching.
I'll either re-buy the dw300, or I'll also go with an aeromotive 340

I have an Aeromotive 340 with 8 gauge wiring and a relay. It has been running strong for ~4 years now at various power levels (up to ~540) and in 2 chassis.
How much HP are you pushing with your fuel setup?
I've run the DW300 pumps and have had 4 of them fail, admittedly I was running E96 with no Gasoline blended in so that is probably a contributing factor BUT DW specifically advertise their pumps as Ethanol compatible.
I've also read on other forums that the Aeromotive Stealth, DW, AEM and Grams are all the same Chinese manufactured pump just with different colour coding - and visually this seems to be true.
Walboro still has the best reputation for reliability and durability.
Personally I'm in the process of installing a surge tank with 2 x Bosch 044 (Genuine not AEM or DW knock-off). The 044's seems to be the most robust pump out there but requires quite a bit of custom installation work compared to the in-tank variants.
@TheShodan: Are the connectors and fittings the "right" layout for our cars ? Denso built a beast of a pump for the Supra Turbo, it was definitely overspecced , pretty much like the rest of the car. I actually considered this as an option when I went through the DW failures.

Now, if I'd just remember the part number, hmm.......
For you I would recommend a Wally 450. I ran the non-e85 version and actually used it with e85 with no issues. it got me to 560whp with stock feed and return lines and factory fuel filter
