Hey guys its me again, I got a quick question. If I put the balance shaft belt on without the balancer pulley being tdc, would that cause the timing belt to walk? I ask this because I noticed that when i go to put an allen wrench inside that little hole you unbolt so the balancer shaft locks into place, that the place i marked it the allen wrench only goes in 3/4 of the way, where as there is one position where the allen wrench goes in completely. TDC for the balancer shaft pulley its when the allen wrench goes in completely, right? Please let me know :D
Also at closer inspection, I notice there is a rounded notch on the block protruding outwards and there are 2 markings on the balancer shaft pulley itself on the "ribs" there are 2 dots on 2 seperate "ribs" about 5 or 6 apart from each other, one dot is larger than the other. Heres a picture of it.
The rounded notch I am speaking of is circled in red.
The big dot I speak of is circled in green.
And the little dot I speak of is circled in blue.
The position its in, in the picture is the position it locks itself into when the allen wrench goes into the bolt hole completely and locks the pulley into place. Is this the correct position for the balancer shaft?
The timing belt doesn't walk anymore, it kinda of walks back and forth but thats it. It stays on the pulleys completely now. Thanks for the help guys :D I'll be posting a new thread with a new question because I'm moving onto the next step :D
I know that it has been a while but can you share what you think resolved your problem. I am currently experiencing a timing belt walk issue on a 91 Honda Accord installing a new timing belt kit.
