Default 92 1.5L 285k Miles. Tries to Start, dies instantly. (Solved)

Hello all!

I've had this Honda for over 3 years and its never let me down.

Completely stock, minus some SI wheels.

Now it will start, mostly, and die instantly. I tried to floor it but couldn't keep it running.

I've also noticed a little bit of a rough idle in the last month or so.

I don't know if this is related but, last summer, on hot days, if I would drive, then fill up, and try to start it again it wouldn't start. It would cool down after a few minutes and start right up again.

1992 Honda Civic LX. 285k Miles. 1.5L. Manual transmission.

After it dies, do the oil and battery lights come on?

If they don't, it is likely the ignition switch not making contact on "run".

Hum, I don't know, I'll have to check. I do know that the start will continue to engage if you hold the key on start position.

I'm reading it could be the Main Relay. Is that a possibility?

Bad main relay causes a basic crank but no start. The engine does not fire at all because no fuel is delivered.

Ended up being the Fuel Pump.

$60 and an hour later, car feels a lot better!
